Politics & Practice of Citation Online
How do I construct a footnote and bibliography? What do research and party-planning have in common? Is there software that can help? All these questions and more will be answered in this session geared towards introducing citation, citation software, and the meta-theory behind all those footnotes. Beginning with the basics of citation and the Chicago Manual of Style, we will delve into how scholarship becomes a “conversation,” to discuss the political aspects of who, when, and why we cite others.

- Know how and why you are citing various sources
- Find and navigate the Chicago Manual of Style online
- Find and navigate the SBL handbook of Style online
- Be able to cite biblical and other ancient sources correctly
- Become acquainted with citation software Zotero
