Tableau for Mapping: an Introduction In-Person

Join us for an immersive 2-hour workshop designed to equip students, faculty, or staff with essential data visualization skills using Tableau Public, a leading industry tool.

What you will learn:  

Foundations of Data Visualization: Discover key principles that apply across all visualization tools. Learn best practices for data storytelling.  

Tableau: Get an in-depth look at Tableau, understanding its unique strengths and applications for analyzing for analyzing spatial data for geovisualization. 

Hands on Experience: Create your own visualizations using real-world datasets. The instructors will utilize a dataset from Zillow with home pricing data and sociodemographic data. 

What to Bring:  

All necessary software will be available on the computers and data will be provided in advance to the workshop. However, if you'd prefer to work on your own device, feel free to bring your personal laptop with Tableau Public pre-installed. 

Optional: You’re also welcome to bring a personal dataset or project idea to explore during the session. 

Bonus: 

Pizza will be provided to fuel your creativity!
